Aluminum Alloy 3105
An Aluminum Alloy is a composition consisting mainly of aluminum to which other elements have been added, including iron, copper, magnesium, silicon, and zinc. The addition of elements to the aluminum gives the alloy improved strength, workability, corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and/or density, compared with the pure metallic element.
The alloys are classified and named according to the amount and type of the alloying metals . Just slight differences in chemical properties can drastically alter strength, workability, corrosion resistance, and electrical conductivity of the alloy.
Aluminium Alloy 3105 is an essentially 98% pure aluminium alloy with minor additions for strength. It is used in general sheet metal works requiring greater strength than is provided by 1000 series alloys. It is not hardenable by heat treatment, density is about 2.71g/cm3. Corrosion resistance, formability and welding characteristics are excellent.
