With a minimum aluminum content of 99%, Aluminum 1100 is mainly selected for applications where easy fabrication, surface quality, and chemical stability are more important than high mechanical strength.

Common tempers include O (annealed), H12, H14, H16, and H18, allowing buyers to select the required balance between softness, ductility, and strength. Aluminum 1100 is non-heat treatable and its mechanical properties are improved mainly through cold working processes.
