HDPE Pipe Grade Granules

HDPE Pipe Grade Granules are high-performance polyethylene raw materials developed for the extrusion of pressure and non-pressure pipes used in water distribution, gas transportation, drainage, irrigation and industrial fluid handling systems. These grades are formulated to provide a combination of high density, excellent stiffness, impact resistance and long-term durability under continuous service conditions. A controlled molecular weight distribution helps provide stable melt strength during pipe extrusion while maintaining the mechanical properties required in the finished pipe.

Pressure pipe grades are typically selected according to the required long-term hydrostatic strength, resistance to slow crack growth and operating pressure. The formulation can also incorporate carefully controlled stabilizer packages to improve resistance to thermal degradation during processing. HDPE Pipe Grade is widely used for potable water pipelines, irrigation networks, sewage systems, industrial piping, mining applications and gas distribution pipes. One of its major technical advantages is its resistance to corrosion, chemicals, moisture and many aggressive environments, eliminating many of the corrosion-related problems associated with metallic piping. The material also provides good flexibility and impact resistance, allowing polyethylene pipes to tolerate ground movement and mechanical stresses more effectively than many rigid materials. For pressure applications, manufacturers select the grade according to pipe diameter, wall thickness, pressure class, extrusion conditions and applicable performance requirements. Consistent melt flow, low contamination and stable processing behavior are particularly important for producing pipes with uniform dimensions and reliable mechanical performance.

HDPE Pipe Grade Granules are normally supplied in clean, free-flowing form and packed in moisture-resistant polyethylene-lined bags or heavy-duty multi-layer bags. Standard industrial packaging commonly includes 25 kg bags, while jumbo bags may be supplied for large-volume manufacturing operations depending on production and logistics requirements. During storage, the resin should be protected from contamination, excessive heat and direct sunlight before processing. Each commercial batch should ideally be accompanied by a Technical Data Sheet and Certificate of Analysis covering key parameters such as density, melt flow rate, mechanical properties and other relevant quality characteristics.

FAQ HDPE Pipe Grade Granules

HDPE Pipe Grade Granules are high-density polyethylene resins specially developed for manufacturing polyethylene pipes. They provide high mechanical strength, long-term hydrostatic performance, excellent chemical resistance and resistance to environmental stress cracking. PE100 grades are widely used for pressure water, gas and industrial piping applications.
The main difference is their Minimum Required Strength (MRS). PE80 has an MRS of 8.0 MPa, while PE100 has an MRS of 10.0 MPa. Therefore, PE100 can provide higher pressure performance or allow thinner pipe walls for an equivalent pressure application.
Typical PE100 pipe grades have relatively low MFR values, commonly around 0.18–0.50 g/10 min at 190°C/5 kg. The exact value depends on the manufacturer's grade. Lower melt flow is generally associated with the high molecular weight characteristics required for pipe performance.
Depending on the specific grade and formulation, HDPE pipe resin can be used for potable water pipes, gas pipes, irrigation pipes, industrial pipelines, drainage and sewerage pipes, mining pipes and conduit/sub-duct systems.
Buyers should check the PE classification, density, MFR and test condition, tensile properties, elongation, long-term hydrostatic strength, stress-crack resistance, carbon black content for black compounds, OIT, TDS, COA and batch consistency. The exact requirements should be matched with the intended pipe standard and application.
