The average iron content in Roasted Iron Pyrites is 65-68%. Roasting involved heating the pyrite ore in the presence of air. The sulfur in the pyrite would react with oxygen to form sulfur dioxide gas, leaving behind iron oxide (rust) as a byproduct.

Roasted iron pyrites, also known as calcined pyrite, are primarily used as a source of sulfur dioxide for the production of sulfuric acid, a crucial chemical in various industries like fertilizers, detergents, and pigments. Roasted pyrite can be used in the production of iron sulfate, which has uses in nutritional supplements, inks, lawn conditioners, and water treatment. Additionally, pyrite can be a source of iron and other valuable metals, like copper, when it occurs in association with these elements.
