Electric Motor (Switched Reluctance SRM )

The switched reluctance motor is a doubly salient, singly excited motor. It has salient poles on both the rotor and the stator, but only one member (usually the stator) carries windings. The rotor has no windings; magnet or cage windings but is built up from stacks of salient pole laminations.

The categorization of switched reluctance motor can be done based on the construction that are linear SRM and rotary SRM.

Doesn’t use any additional ventilation system
These are less expensive
Fault tolerance is high and
Phase losses do not change the operation of the motor.

Used in beam pumps, vertical pumps, well testing machinery, conveyors, shearers, winches, ball mills, boring machines, coal crushers, mechanical presses like screw presses, Machine tools …
Used in domestic appliances like vacuum cleaners, washing machines, fans, etc.
