Typical fixed carbon levels range from 85% to over 99%, depending on processing and application needs. Flake graphite powder is preferred for refractories, batteries, and expandable graphite production due to its crystalline structure, while amorphous graphite powder is commonly used in foundries, brake linings, and carbon additives. Key applications include refractory bricks and crucibles, carbon raisers in steelmaking, dry lubricants, conductive fillers, battery anode materials, gaskets and seals, friction materials, and anti-corrosion coatings. Chemically, natural graphite powder consists mainly of elemental carbon, with controlled ash content and trace minerals such as silica and alumina.
