Polyethylene Compounds
Polyethylene compounds are PE-based materials produced using a mixture of PE resins and various additives to impact specific properties. Compounding is the general term for the operation converting the polyethylene (PE) produced in a polymerization reactor into a pelletized form suitable for use by a downstream processor.
In the compounding process, the polymer is physically and chemically modified by incorporating various additives. The selection of additives and of compounding conditions depends on the end application of the compounded product. It is possible to modify PE with the following additives and are also able to make additives that are not listed here.
- Mineral Filled (Talc and CaCo3): 20% to 50%
- Glassfiber Reinforced: 20% to 50%
- Impact Modified
- Flame Retardant: Halogen and Halogen free systems
- UV and Heat stabilized options
- Various colours available
