p-Xylene (para-xylene) is an aromatic hydrocarbon , one of the most widely used aromatic compounds . Among other industrial applications, it is a raw material in the large scale synthesis of various polymers.
PX is a key raw material used in the production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), which are used almost exclusively in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymer for the production of polyester fibers, PET solid-state resins, and PET film. Other uses of of the Paraxylene (PX) are in making of polyester such as film, fibre, and Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT), which is a high-performance plastic.
