Alpha-beta brass is composed of about 40% of zinc and 60% of copper. It has a structure with alpha as well as beta phases. This type of brass can work well with hot as well as cold processes, and is strong and ductile.

Alpha-Beta Brass is suitable for forging and machining processes. Components like fittings, gears, and valves are manufactured using it.

Alpha-Beta Brass offers a balance of strength and malleability, making them suitable for hot working. C280 (Muntz Metal) is a notable example, commonly used in shipbuilding and other heavy-duty applications.
