Anaerobic Adhesives

A range of viscosities are available, from four to several million centipoise, and the shelf life is greater than one year, depending on the amount of air in the container. Anaerobic adhesives can fill bond gaps from 0.025 mm (0.001 inches) to ∼1 mm (0.04 inches).

Anaerobic adhesives are used for structural bonds, primarily with materials such as metals  and   glass and to a lesser extent, wood and plastic (thermosets  and some thermoplastics). An  activator is applied to one or  both  joint surfaces;  adhesive  is then    applied to one surface to begin curing. Cure speed is determined by the choice of activator; cure times range from less than 30 seconds to greater than 30 minutes.

Joints produced using anaerobic adhesives can withstand exposure to organic solvents and water, weathering, and temperatures of up to about 200°C. The product has excellent chemical resistance but is not  recommended  for  exposure to concentrated acids and alkalis.  In general these products are suitable  for  maximum temperature up to 150 deg. C. However  some grades  are available that can withstand higher temperature in case of need
